2. What we collect
We collect the minimum personal data necessary to operate the site and the newsletter.
You give us
- Newsletter signup — email address, optionally a name. Required to deliver the brief you subscribed to.
- Contact & tip submissions — name, email, message. Used only to reply.
- Advertiser inquiries — name, company, email, message. Used only to respond.
Collected automatically
- Server logs — IP, user-agent, referrer, timestamps. Retained 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
- Cookies — see Cookies section below.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization (or equivalent privacy-respecting analytics). We do not track individuals across third-party sites.
3. How we use your data
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To measure aggregate site traffic and improve the publication.
- To protect the site against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To comply with applicable law.
We do not use your personal data for behavioral advertising. We do not sell your data.

Essential cookies are set without consent because the site cannot function without them. Analytics cookies are set only after explicit consent in our cookie banner.
6. How we share your data
We share data only with vetted service providers acting on our behalf:
- Hosting: our infrastructure provider, EU/EEA region.
- Email delivery: our transactional mail provider (the same one that sends the newsletter).
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization.
- Anti-spam: Wordfence (security plugin) and rate-limiting services.
We do not sell your data. We do not transfer your data to third parties for their own marketing.
7. International transfers
Some service providers process data outside the EU/EEA. Where they do, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and provider safeguards (e.g., Google's SCCs and supplementary measures).
8. Data retention
- Newsletter subscribers: until unsubscribe; we delete the email within 30 days of unsubscribe.
- Contact form messages: retained for 12 months for follow-up, then deleted.
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Analytics: 14 months (GA4 default).
9. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA/UK (GDPR), Switzerland (FADP), California (CCPA/CPRA), Brazil (LGPD), or other jurisdictions with similar laws, you have rights including:
- Access — request a copy of your data.
- Correction — fix inaccurate data.
- Deletion — request erasure.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Restriction / objection — limit processing or object to it.
- Opt-out of sale — applies if we sold your data (we do not).
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10. Children
DMC is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use HTTPS sitewide, modern security headers, application-level WAF (Wordfence), bcrypt for any stored credentials, and least-privilege access controls. No system is 100% secure; we will notify affected users without undue delay in the event of a material data breach.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the publication evolves. Material changes will be flagged via email to subscribers and a banner on the site. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
